The issue that I have is that my crank gear has two marks on it, one is a line and the other is an 'R' with two dots, and I'm not sure which is the right one. This picture was taken with the motor at TDC. WebBob. It is on the flywheel in the hole in the bell housing on the passenger side. It has a ball on the fly wheel and a pointer. The ball is top dead center and that is not what you time it to. The spec is 5 degrees from TDC. This will be the first short radial mark clock wise from the ball. Vacuum disconnected from distributor.

My notes indicate that on a '51 235, the BB is 6° BTDC. This flywheel has other markings too, one of which (not the BB) indicates #1 piston TDC.
