I wish it was this easy on my E39. It looks like BMW made it a bit simpler to get to and replace in the later 6 cylinder engines. Count your blessings, E90 owners. On the E39 528i, you have to remove the fan, fan-shroud famous BMW engine-compartment plastic, and alternator to get to it.
