I read that … Nikon USA returned my D600 to me after I sent it in for warranty repair for addressing the oil splatter marks on the sensor; according to the note the shutter mechanism was replaced (B2- shutter mechanism replaced). I verified the sensor was totally clean when I got it back.

Both … WebThe D610 quickly replaced the D600 mostly because of the oil issues the D600 has. They are very rare in your model. These are certainly just regular dust. The auto-clean function on cameras is fairly worthless. You should have a rocket blaster and use it (in mirror-up lock) before every shoot. We call this a "dry clean."
